Welcome to The Bargain Queen blog!
Welcome to my new blog, The Bargain Queen. A little about me:
- I’m 27
- I live in Sydney, Australia
- I’m married to a wonderful man I’ll call Mr Bargain Queen
- I make a living designing intranets and consulting, but I’ve been on sick leave for a few months :(
If there is a cheap way to find ANYTHING, I know all about it. I’ve been financially independent from my parents since I was 15 and I’ve always been well dressed, well fed and lived in nice places, no matter how tight my budget has been.
On the flip side, I’m an obsessed fashion tragic. I used to borrow copies of Vogue and Follow Me from the local library when I was tiny, then try to style my kiddy clothes to look like high fashion ensembles. I read my way through all my mother’s back issues of Home Beautiful a little while afterwards, and it’s just grown from there. She keeps everything she buys, so that’s a lot of magazines!
By high school, I bought most of my clothes in the op shop and wore vintage cashmere and suede with super-tight jeans (with Doc Martens school shoes… ugh!) I spent a while trying to learn to mix patterns successfully before realising the look wasn’t really me and moved onto the clean lines and solid colours I’ve worn ever since.
I started this blog because I’d like to share some of my hard-won wisdom on how to be stylish on a budget.
I’m living proof that you don’t have to run up a big credit card bill, or be very rich, to have a designer wardrobe, eat gourmet food, live in a hip area and decorate your pad nicely… and I’d like to show you how it’s done.
Stay tuned for some great hints and tips!
