How to op (thrift) shop

Style Space has some great tips on how to op shop (which is what Aussies call thrift shopping), including:

Don’t be deterred by different sizes
Sometimes garments in op shops can be decades old, which means the sizing system of the garments is inconsistent with current sizing. Don’t dismiss something just because it’s not labelled in your size, or even because it doesn’t have a size tag at all. Just try it on!

There are also some of The Bargain Queen’s tips over here.

This week I have been madly searching ebay for a fare price on a Mr Bean original teddy (1997). When they came out they were RR $34.95, and whilst I have never seen one in an op shop, I found one… this week, a numbered original, with no price on it, I asked the assistant (who would probably scream if she saw another teddy cross her path in an op shop!), she said $1, with my 20% off for pension day, this was 80c, whilst on ebay with postage it was much closer to $20 for these teddys!

Currently I am doing a audio course by Anthony Robbins (bought off ebay for a 10th of price), whilst I have never read his book, Unlimited Power, I was definately interested if I could find it second hand. Whilst op shopping, it jumped out at me… Unlimited Power, one only (naturally), and it was only $3, with pensioner discount $2.40, a fabulous bargain. My point is that with regularity and a couple of stores, eventually what you want will call you to the store. I amaze myself how many times I fluke this principle.
