Fashion bloggers: would you like to help new readers find your blog?

If there was a blog carnival just for fashion blogs, you’d be able to do just that — but since Manolo’s Carnivale of Couture finished last year, there hasn’t been one…

…until now.

Announcing, The Fabulous! Festival of fashion, beauty and style.

I’ve decided to step up and do something about the lack of a blog carnival for all the fabulous fashion, beauty and personal style bloggers out there.

Here’s what to expect, and how you can participate.

What’s a blog carnival?

A blog carnival is a celebration of interesting new content in a particular niche.

Each week, a different blog hosts the carnival. Bloggers send a link to their best article for the week to the hosting blogger. The blogger who’s hosting it collates all the submissions into a big link round-up, so readers can find all the best content for the last week in one place.

There used to be a fashion blog carnival with a different theme each week, called the Carnivale of Couture. It finished up last year, and there hasn’t been a fashion blog carnival around since.

If you’d like to see what some other blog carnivals look like, check out the Festival of Frugality, the Carnival of Personal Finance (both great sources of money-saving tips) or the aforementioned Carnivale of Couture.

For fashion blog readers

Why read the Festival?

If you like reading interesting blog posts about fashion, beauty and personal style, this is the blog carnival for you.

Each week, you’ll find all the best posts for the last week in one place. It’s also a great way to hear about interesting new blogs, so you’ll always be ‘in the know’ about the best blogs around.

Where will I find it each week?

It will be hosted by a different blog each week, but there will be two places you can always find out where the latest edition is.

Firstly, I’ll mention it here on The Bargain Queen. I’ve create a new Fabulous! Festival page, and they’ll also be mentioned on the home page each week.

Secondly, The Fabulous!Festival is also on BlogCarnival.com, so you can check there instead if you’d prefer.

When does it start?

I’ll host the first one next week. Submissions will be due next Friday 9th May. The first Festival will be posted here at The Bargain Queen on Monday 12th May.

Following weeks will be hosted by interested bloggers — see below.

For fashion bloggers

Why participate?

Participating in the blog carnival is a great way to help readers find your blog.

If you’ve written a great blog post you’d like the world to see, submit it to The Fabulous! Festival. All good-quality posts submitted will get a link in the carnival, and the best few will be featured links. Either way, you’re likely to get at least a few new readers.

If you host the carnival, you’re likely to have a big boost in traffic when people come to read your issue of the Festival — but you have to be prepared to do a few hours work, reading all the submissions and collating them into a links post.

How do I submit my blog post?

You can submit your link using The Fabulous! Festival submission form.

How do I apply to host it?

If you’d like to volunteer to host the Festival, email me.

You’ll need to be prepared to read a lot of links when it’s your week to host, and write a post linking to them all.

Other questions?

Leave a comment below, and I’ll post an answer for the world to see.

Would you have a theme? (I vote \’yes\’.)

  • The Bargain Queen said:

Hi Nadine, I’ll leave it up to the hosts each week: if they want to specify a theme they’re welcome to, but if not, no theme is fine too.

    Great idea!!!!
Can’t wait for it to kick off.

What a wonderful idea, it’s hard enough enough for computer unsavvy people like me to find relevant blogs to read, so now they can put themselves out there in one place to make it much easier for me. Unreal, really looking forward to this, thanks.

Thanks Dean! I can’t really take all the credit for the idea though. Practically every other area of the blogosphere has one, we’ve just been missing out since the Carnivale of Couture ended.
