A close friend from high school wears size 13 shoes. We once went shoe shopping together, and after visiting ten stores with shoes for me, we went to the one shop that stocked her size. It had plenty of ugly, orthopedic-looking shoes and literally nothing pretty… and they were so expensive!

I suddenly understood why my gorgeous tall friend, so stylish in every other regard, wore the same ugly shoes all the time.
