Cheap gift ideas: Beauty sleep
As part of my strategy to focus on small gifts to make Christmas shopping easier and cheaper, I’m compiling the ultimate lists of gifts for under $20. Here’s a gift that everyone can appreciate.
Who doesn’t need better sleep? Getting enough sleep is key to being happy and healthy.
With that in mind, here are a few gift ideas that will help your loved one catch a catnap or sleep better at night.
Blocking out distractions
To begin with, don’t underestimate a pair of earplugs. Many people with sleeping problems don’t even thing to try them, though these silicon earplugs are super comfortable and just $5.06 for 8 pairs! They’d make a great stocking stuffer or a thoughtful addition to a gift basket.
For those who actually need sound to sleep, there’s the HoMedicics SS 2000 Relaxation Machine for $19.99. It only ships to the U.S., but it is eligible for Amazon’s Super Saver Shipping.
Light can also be a problem, which is why eye masks are great if you’re trying to take a daytime nap or if your bedroom just isn’t dark enough. This simple sleep mask is just $3.16. For the women on your list, though, why not get a sleep mask with some personality — like this Holly Golightly sleep mask, inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s favorite Breakfast at Tiffany’s character. It’s just $14.
Soothing solutions
Chamomile tea is known to help people relax and get to sleep. In my recent guide for tea lovers, I recommended a variety of gourmet teas by SerendipiTea. As luck would have it, they have an organic blend called Zzz, made from Egyptian chamomile & French lavender. That does sound relaxing! It’s $13 for a 2 ounce box (about 30 cups prepared).
Lavender works well by itself, too. But instead of getting products that are just lavender-scented, go straight to the source with a bottle of lavender oil ($16.13). The oil can be added to other products or used as is — even just sniffed from the bottle.
And if you’re having problems sleeping, give yourself a gift by trying melatonin supplements. They work wonders for me.
