Cheap gift ideas: Lots of beautiful earrings

By Meg in Florida 15 December 2007 No Comment

While you’ve been reading the ultimate lists of gifts for under $20, perhaps you’ve been wondering what sort of things are on my shopping list. Well, here’s a hint. earrings

When I asked my mom what she wanted for Christmas, she told me she wanted several pairs of inexpensive earrings. Sure, diamonds are nice, but my mom knows the value of earrings that aren’t so expensive you’re scared to wear them!

Cheap earrings are an excellent gift choice for almost any girl or woman, and boy, have I a huge list of great earrings for you — all under $20!

As an added bonus, all the earrings featured in this guide ship worldwide! Plus, some of the sellers have special shipping deals.

Read on for the ultimate selection of earrings worthy of giving.

Classic pearls & clear crystals

It’s hard to go wrong with a simple, classy pair of clear crystal earrings. They needn’t be diamonds to sparkle; cubic zirconia and Swarovski crystals make great alternatives for a whole lot less. These CZ drop earrings SOLD OUT are simple but dazzling for just $10.99, as are these CZ dangles for $10.95.

Pearls are a classic choice, but those perfect Akoya pearls can be expensive. Fortunately freshwater pearls are a lot cheaper and they can be just as beautiful precisely because they have more natural looking shapes. These 10K gold, white pearl studs are $16.99, and these 14K gold pink pearl studs are just $12.99.

If you’re looking for larger earrings, these pearl and Swarovski dangles are $13.99. There are also these lovely 24K gold vermeil dangle earrings with white or pink coin pearls. Both are just $10!

Sophisticated silver filigree

Plain silver earrings needn’t be plain in design. Filigree earrings are delicate and elegant, even in larger sizes. These lovely teardrop filigree earrings are just $12.95 and these crescent moon-shaped earrings are $13.95.

Colorful gemstones

Colored crystals and gemstones are also a great alternative, particularly if you know the recipient’s favorite colors to wear.

Celtic knot earrings make a nice way to showcase beautiful gemstones. Here are several styles and gems, including:

Teardrop earrings are also a good choice. The following styles are all $17.99 and they come in abalone,
mother of pearl, turquoise, and onyx.

Some other great choices in gemstone earrings include these lovely tiger’s eye dangles ($10.99), these stunning red coral earrings (just $10!), and these great blue abalone earrings ($11.99).

Earrings with real personality

Of course, the occasion doesn’t always call for earrings that are “sophisticated” or “elegant”. Far from being an earring snob, I think earrings are a great way add personality to a casual outfit. Show your loved one that you know their interests by giving them a pair of earrings that reflect them.

Animals

A simple way to start is with a pair of earrings in the shape of their favorite animal. Just some of the possibilities:

Other interests

For those that aren’t critter crazy, there are plenty of other earrings in just about every design imaginable. For example, there are these fun earrings in silver:

Earring issues

Of course, buying cheap earrings for some people can be a little tricky, but that often means that they’ll be even more appreciative to receive earrings that they can wear. Does your loved one have sensitive ears? No worries! Most dangle earrings can have the tops replaced with a style and metal that works for very little at a jewelry or beading store. Or, you can do it yourself with these 22K gold-plated hooks ($3.75 for 100) and a jewelry making tool set ($6.99)

If your loved one doesn’t have pierced ears, they might appreciate a pair of clip ons. You can also buy clip on earring findings. Here they are in gold plate ($3.33 per pair) and white gold plate ($8.63 for 24).

And to organize it all…

Finally, if your loved one really does have more earrings than they can handle, consider an earring organizer. Or for a larger gift, give them an organizer with earrings attached. This foldable acrylic organizer is just $11.49. For a little bit more, you can get an organizer in the shape of a star ($17.95), heart ($19.95) or lyre ($19.95).

Here are some other lovely earrings under $20 we’ve written about before that are still available:
