New airline security requirements limit the amount of liquid you can take on a plane.
That makes this Sephora perfume atomizer a great gift for a stylish traveler. It looks great, carries a few days’ worth of fragrance, won’t leak and is small enough not to trigger terrorist suspicions, even in carry-on baggage.
Like the fabulous fragrance bottle over at Fashion Tribes today, this bottle is diamond-trimmed for extra sparkle — there’s a faux diamond in the cap. It’s $18 and ships to U.S.

A special tip for our Canadian readers:
The exchange rate recently tipped in your favour, so your money goes further when you’re buying American products.
That means hopping the border can get you some great deals — especially since U.S. stores are trying to lure Canadians:

“Some of the prices that are showing up in the malls close to the border in the U.S., [...] are lower there than they would be for example in Chicago, in New York, in any large city.”
Source: Ottawa Business Journal
If you’re too far from the border to drive across, you can still get a great deal from one of the many U.S. shopping sites that ship to Canada — like Amazon, Apple Bottoms, Baby Phat, BuyBeauty, dELiA*s, figleaves, ICE.com, Shoebuy, shopbop and UncommonGoods.
Happy shopping, Canadians!

Picking a new perfume is hard because scents smell different on different people — so you need to wear a fragrance for a few days before you know if it suits you.
If you can’t convince a cosmetics saleswoman to give you a sample vial of a fragrance you’d like to try, you can buy them online at Fragrance Monkey instead — and most are under $5. While that’s a lot for a few drops of perfume, it’s much cheaper than buying a big bottle that doesn’t suit you!
(My pick: Boss Intense
for US$4.70.)

Recently, I was disappointed to learn that the Clinique counters here in Australia are discontinuing the Clinique Simply Perfume Spray
I’ve worn every day for the last few years.
Thankfully, it’s still available online — and the 10% discount off retail price will pretty much pay for shipping!

Beauty products have got to be one of the most confusing purchases around.
Which products do you actually need to look good?
Are the expensive ones any better than the cheap ones?
And does anything ever work as well as the ads promise?
Here’s how I get my beauty budget to balance: the products I spend more on, the cheap products I love, and most importantly, the mistakes I will never make again!

Today I’m going to share my best tip for finding breath-taking fragrances for a lot less than you might expect. My tip:
Look beyond the perfume counter.
While the options on offer at your local perfume counter are easy and pleasant, they’re also insanely high-priced. When you buy perfume, you’re also paying for those fabulous glossy ads you see in Vogue, and possibly a couture show as well.
Here’s a cheaper, nicer alternative.

Have you heard about having a ‘perfume wardrobe’?
It’s an idea that I see regularly in magazines and fashion web sites. It goes a little like this: instead of having a signature scent you wear all the time, you should have a ‘wardrobe’ of perfumes and choose one to suit your mood each day.
It’s also a big con. Here’s why.
